Folonya (Open your eyes)

Who knows where I come from
I guess you only know my form
And that your midst is my home
My name is Folonya

I came to teach you lessons
Don’t act like you don’t know the reasons
And I’ll be here for some seasons
My name is Folonya

Now stay with those who matter for sure
Well, don’t ever forget the poor
And I’ll know how pure you are
My name is Folonya

Stay at home and open your eyes
See which politician is white as ice
And you’ll see they bite and blow like mice
My name is Folonya

TRUMPETS

Passing, tresspassing, bypassing, harassing
Specks of dust full of evidence
Roads that leads to dangerous incidence
Walls that hides bad intentions
Tracks that carry unimaginable tensions
Phones hiding sins of great MBs and Gbs
Memory cards holding evil in tidbits
The woods is a belly of unfathomable darkness
Death hugging like a pretty murderous actress
The wind is carrying bad news
Music has a hidden agenda of a massive abuse

Darkness is an old friend, confusion is a diehard ally
Wheels of unrighteousness is turning
Hatred and lust in the hearts is burning
The river flows with woes of the innocent
The ocean dark secrets is astoundingly magnificent
Death is the only peace known to man
Being alive is a way to dying, that’s the plan
If the end justifies the meaning, then death is the amusement

Dark alleys, creepy buildings, howling in the darkness
Hushed Whispers in the shadows, silent screams, skull and bones
Ecological cities dead, Artificial intelligence cities ran by drones
Apocalyptic messages as graffiti, the prophecy is scary
Doctors with bloody lab coats, taking us closer to robots,
Skies are polluted, their once a blue airy

Crime is a way of life for some
Those “some” Have their own way of life
They murder for fun, they kill for sport
Madness turns them on, like sex it is a glorious pleasure
Hell isn’t as sinful as the human mind
Evil isn’t as dark as the heart of mankind
Secrets so dire, plans so evil and intentions so vile, the devil has nothing on them

The hand that holds the dagger is steady
The aim of the gun to the heart is locked
Money has been used as a weapon already
Power and fame in the shopping cart is overstocked
Humans have lost touch with humanity
Animals have turned against animosity
They are in danger of the man, the protector
People have turned to be tasks, skin and hide collector

Roses are now deathbeds, this isn’t a cliche
Life isn’t a bed of roses no more, a walk in the park or a run on the beaches
Black smoke hisses on earth, no more freedom
Demons feed on fear, leaders instill it in great tonnes
Let’s use metals to make tools, not more guns
Where can we hide our faces
The world is full of crazy crackpots
No more jokes, no more money, competitions and jackpots
Crime isn’t the way out, and so is suicide
Hatred is death and death is the end so put that aside
Do you hear that siren? Me too is it an ambulance or a cop car?
Or is it an alarm?

My voice is too weak to shout down the throats of these criminals
Is there hope for them or just priestly confessional
Or we wait for a prophecy of a saviour, or the trumpet of an end time procession.

INSECURITY TERROR.

I have insecurities, everyone does.
Mine are different,they cripple me
My insecurities are my disabilities.
I know the words I need to say to you,but I have a whales tongue
I fear commitments, yet all my life I have been committed.
Committed to courses that have wasted my time,my memories.
But am still attached to the lessons.
I get attached easily, that’s an insecurity,
So stop telling me to stop confusing you,
Am more confused.
I want to have a future with you,but I don’t think you fit into my present.
I know you are beautiful, but am still stuck at pretty.
I know you deserve to be chased, like every other girl.
Am sure I want you as my meal.
But I don’t want to get attached to the haunt.
I understand a real man knows what he wants,
And I need to pick a side
Am just being real with you,am insecure about making a wrong choice with you,
Like how my exs made wrong choices with me.
I hate my insecurities for blocking from fallin in love with you,
But I don’t want to fall for you,
Only to be more insecure.

He Who Wants A Rose Must Respect The Thorn.

We’ll definitely love some wars
Lose allies and make some foes

We’ll probably be criticised because of our little flaws
We’ll definitely get handled by rough tearing claws

We’ll definitely get slapped by hard rough paws
We’ll be pricked by thousand thorns

We’ll at times lose what we used to own
We’ll drown and we’ll be taken back to the shores
At times the game will be tough and we’ll lose our scores

But always remember that
You’re big tree and your leaves won’t stop to fall
He who wants a rose must respect the thorn
Hurdles should not trouble you at all

There are always a thousand hurdles on the pathway to great growth

Learn to overcome
You still have to walk
You still have to cope

ANXIETY

anxiety

Jared a 21-year-old university student stands outside the main campus gate in a queue of thousands awaiting security clearance. It’s almost the end of the semester; most students are talking about C.A.Ts they haven’t prepared for. Jared listens on as it lingers his mind, the many C.A.Ts and classes he has been missing throughout the semester.

When it reaches his turn, he dives into his back pocket for his wallet which contains his student I.D card only to be shocked not to find it there. Looking tense, he searches his other pockets and finds nothing. The security guard grows impatient and rudely shouts at him, “Young man are you confused!? You have been lining up all this time and you never realized you had no I.D. You don’t even have books, are you really a student?”He then pushes him aside while he beckons for the next student to step forward.

Feeling entirely embarrassed, he gives way and turns in a bid to go back and pick his wallet from where he might have left it but then stops after he remembers that he didn’t spend the weekend at the campus hostels but at one of his girlfriends’ place far from town. He has no money and no phone. Jared needs to access the university premises not to attend to a class but to pick his commission from a friend he helped broker a business deal. He needs that money to relieve his starvation for both food and intoxication. The craving for marijuana is not giving him much of a peaceful mind.

On a desperate attempt, Jared suddenly turns towards the main gate again and sprints with a force and speed that no guard can stop him from entering. Students watching from behind are cheering on while others are laughing out loud as one of the security guards gives a chase. Jared runs only for a hundred meters before he trips and falls with a thud. The guard arrests and locks him down in an empty dusty room while he contacts the National Police Service to report a case on trespassing.

Inside the cell, Jared feels lifeless. He doesn’t know if he should be angry with himself for letting his life get to that point. He has no idea how he came to change from a bright disciplined student to someone extremely careless with life, consuming drugs and having multiple sex partners. He lies down on the dusty floor as he wails in bitterness wishing to die.

A lady police officer arrives and after being briefed by the security guards, enters the room, takes sake en study at Jared and then orders him to sit up. He tries to get up but falls back due to body weakness. The officer writes something down on a small notebook and then asks for his registration details, this time around with a kinder voice. Jared being too emotionally weak to speak writes his university registration number on the dusty floor with his finger. The officer seems to understand, copies it down and walks out of the room. Jared can hear the lady telling the guards that he is heading to the admissions registrar to look up those details and also notes that from her observation, Jared is suffering from depression citing her expertise in human psychology.

These words sink into him as he acknowledges the truth in them. He realizes that it is true that he is depressed. One stress has been leading to another progressively as he has been making one life mistake after another. He feels very bitter with everything and everyone including himself as a result of piling up frustrations. He thinks to himself,”Is it high time I should let go of my habit of being extremely secretive about my life trouble sand challenges? Instead of talking out or complaining anytime someone wrongs me,have I been piling up-foul emotion sin my heart?”

The human body, particularly the mind tends to malfunction when one is depressed and makes one almost unsoundness decision-making. Here calls once reading this from the apostate certain hospital.

After a while, the lady police officer walks back into the room and stretches out her hand to help Jared on his feet. She then tells him, “I have learnt of your history here in this university. Let us get you something to eat and then after you freshen up we shall visit your campus guidance and counselling office. I don’t know why you caused all that drama in the morning but one thing I Β know for sure is that you really need help. I would advise you to open up and be willing to accept help. You are still very young so it is not too late to reform. “Jared nods in agreement.

Perhaps, this is a renewed hope for Jared, he only needs to accept that he is challenged and be open for counseling.

It Was Taken.

Ooh! I was shocked,
As they took it,
Regrating my beauty,
Yes I am still the bold,
And the beautiful,
Beautiful but worthless.

Just like my monthly period,
That day shadows me around,
Recalling it just like yesterday,
It was my dark day,
Painting me in black,
Yet am not dark,
As they enjoyed me in dusk,
Who then can ,to me give it back.

It was when joining the stage,
When beauty became my looking,
But within a blink of my eyes I lost it,
To those winning demons,
Eating my fruit forcedly,
Without any pleasure,
Only to fill their worthless straws.

I ran for justice,
But it ran away from me,
I had nothing to do,
Only to mourn for justice.

Tears washed my beauty,
As blood covered my lady,
I was in gloomy,
As fire burnt my tummy,
And my lips could not cry,
Help became lost in my vocabulary,
Left helpless in sorrow,
With no hope for tomorrow.

It has happened,
No action had been taken,
Only my life is broken,
But I still have another chance,
A chance to live,
For they spared my breathe,
Giving me a career,
To fight them,
Those like me ; harmed,
Finding the lost justice,
Not left in pain,
The pain that was not my will,
Though many lose it ,
But many lose it forcedly,
With no gain but pain,
Just take medical wash,
Stepping next to move on,
from my destroyed value,
The woman value,
But trying to forget,
That IT WAS TAKEN.

Scary Future

They made us believe that our future was so bright
Unfortunately things seem to be getting uptight and neither could tell why,
With every single day that passes by
Which has left many people crying.

News headlines are no longer interesting to watch
With the rise number of infected people and deaths
Which has left many scared to face the future
Not knowing when the killer COVID-19 will knock.

Stay home, put on a mask and wash your hands with soap
Has proven to be the only hope we have now
Since the search for the cure has proven to bear no fruits
Leaving us to believe that these are the end times.

You can no longer sneeze freely in public
Since nobody is going to say “God bless you son”
In fact you might be considered to be toxic
And end up in a quarantine facility never to see the sun.
